Ancient Oak Ventures was founded by Arik Elberse with the aim of helping tech industry businesses and public sector organisations to become more successful and grow and develop. It is also an important way for Arik to share his experience and give back to his local community through pro bono work with suitably qualified early stage and scaling Irish start-ups.
About Arik Elberse
Arik has over 30 years experience in the tech industry, leading technology, architecture, solution and product management teams world-wide in leading technology companies.
Before deciding to leave Cisco to found Ancient Oak Ventures in mid 2023, Arik was the Global Director of Product Management and User Experience for Cisco’s IoT Operations Dashboard. This cloud-based SaaS solution helps operations teams securely deploy, monitor and troubleshoot Cisco industrial routers and their connected equipment. Arik led the overall product direction and vision and led the team in all aspects of product management and user experience, incl. roadmaps, prioritization, UX design, licensing and go-to-market. A 16 year veteran of Cisco, Arik’s previous Cisco roles include Director for Connected Transportation and Smart City IoT Solutions, Director of Collaboration Solutions, and Director of Product Management for Video and Unified Communications. Prior to Cisco, he held a variety of senior positions, incl. CTO for Contact Center and Multimedia Applications with Nortel (now Avaya) and Chairman of the ETSI DECT/Data standards committee while managing the Enterprise Ireland funded telecoms research centre Teltec Ireland at the University of Limerick.
In the mid 2000’s Arik owned and operated the master franchise for Ology Ireland, an international Business Consultancy and Coaching franchise. During this time he also qualified as a professional International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified Business Coach, following extensive training with Adler Coaching based out of Canada.
